Red Frog Beach is one of the best places in the world. and that's a pretty good reason for you to visit. Other good reasons include pristine beaches, world class surf, the boobies and woodpeckers (it's not what you think... or maybe it is) and astounding marine life.
The Surf
Whenthe swells arrive, Bocas Del Toro has some of the best waves and variety of breaks in the Caribbean. At Red Frog Bungalows, co-owners Scott Balogh and Scott Beck have surfed all over the world including Australia, Tahiti, Indonesia, Mexico, California, and Hawaii. They have pioneered many spots in the Bocas Del Toro area. Nobody has the experience they have in Bocas.
There are over 10 good waves within 20 minutes from the resort. Some of these are world-class. We explore these waves from the comfort of our facility, traveling to all locations via boat. Our fast 26-foot boats will drop you right by the take-off point, and if requested, anchor in the channel to serve as a rest stop. Cold beverages, towels and shade are never more than a short paddle away.
The surf in Bocas Del Toro challenges beginners and professional alike. In January 2007, Red Frog Bungalows catered to Red Bull Professional Surfers Billy Hume, Ben Mcbrie, Nick Jiampa, and Sam Hammer. We scored some of the largest and heaviest waves ridden in the Caribbean and were featured in June 07 of Surfer Magazine called Panamania.
The season starts early December and begins to fall off in early April. The peak of summer can also produce a mini season during the months of June and July. There are some epic days during these months and the waves are usually cleaner due to more favorable weather conditions. While there can be some big days during these months, the summer season does not compare with the winter in terms of duration or consistency.
We do not like crowds so if you have the ability we will take you to rarely surfed breaks all over Bocas. We are the only ones to surf the world famous Silverbacks and are not scared of surfing the biggest waves that Bocas can produce. Come surf with the best and forget the rest. We have it covered.
The Bungalows
Our Bungalows are brand new. They were pre-fabricated in Indonesia and sent to Panama. Scotty and Scotty have been hard at work making sure they are comfortable and beautiful.
The setting is a lush tropical garden steps away from the beach.

They use solar power and spring fed water. The house comes with all amenities such as oven, fridge and running water.
Materials
Bangkari is one of the five hardest woods on the planet. This means that it is unusually durable and resitant to weather damage as well as termites. This is good because Panama has both of them. If you are a termite you will probably not like our bungalows. We apologize for this, but you will have to seek accomodations elsewhere. Try some of the other accomodations in Bocas Town.
BEACHFRONT! In fact, if you sit on the deck of the Rancho you can put your feet right in the sand. This feels really good. Relaxing is our business, and business is good at the Frog House.
The house is a fully furnished 2 bedroom/1 Bathroom elevated home, built on 10’ concrete posts which creates a cooler atmosphere, and really puts you up there in the canopy of the jungle. From the deck of the house you have a view of the ocean and the surrounding rainforest.

Fishing
The remote western Caribbean coast of Panama is wild and undeveloped, which is exactly what makes fishing these waters so remarkable. The waters surrounding Red Frog Bungalows are estuaries, flats, rivers and offshore waters. Most of the areas fished are protected reserves. Tarpon, Snook, Bonefish, Jack Crevalle, Barracuda, Tuna, Wahoo, King Mackerel, snappers, and groupers are just a few of the fish that inhabit these reserves. Offshore, seasonal runs include Yellowfin, Blackfin, and Bigeye Tuna, Wahoo, Kingfish and big Yellowtail Snapper. Resident bottom fish in these waters consist of various grouper species, and snapper including Cuberas, Grays, Dogs, Blacks and Muttons. Whale Sharks, dolphins, and sea turtles are sometimes spotted in these pristine waters.
The fishing in Bocas del Toro is not world class nor world famous but we have our days We organize ½ day and full day charters with the most experienced captains in Bocas del Toro.
 
Our snorkeling excursions are designed to explore as many different ecosystems as possible while focusing on habitat and species diversity. Red Frog Bungalows is centrally located in the archipelago and only a short boat ride away from a variety of reefs. We have over 20 miles of reef within 30 minutes via boat. A variety of tropical fish including snappers, groupers, mackerel, Bar Jacks, squirrelfish, puffer fish, parrotfish, angle fish, butterfly fish, wrasses, damselfish, trumpetfish, and silversides can be observed. One can also expect to see moray eels, bristletree worms, anemones, sponges, soft corals, elkhorn and brain corals.
All excursions depart directly from our resort where our staff will handle the preparation, maintenance and portage of the equipment. If you do not have personal gear we provide masks, fins, and snorkel.
