Nicaragua

The past few years has seen a huge increase in surf travel to Nicaragua, and it's really no surprise. With offshore winds over 200 days a year, consistent swell, and super friendly locals, Nicaragua is a logical destination for surfers from South Florida and around the world. 

The Surf

Nicaragua offers every type of break for all levels of ability.  Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned veteran, a longboarder or shortboarder you will find surf to challenge you.

The location

San Juan del Sur, Province of Rivas, Nicaragua. 

San Juan del Sur is located in the Southern coastal province of Rivas.  It is a vivrant fishing village that has seen tremendous growth over the past few years due to Nicaragua's gaining popularity with surfers, and tourists alike.  San Juan offers several hotels and restaurants as well as budget accomodations and a thriving night life.  There are several outstanding breaks around the vicinity, most of which are difficult to access by land unless you are staying at that spot or you have a local connection. 

Day Trips with Action Tours

Getting to the surf by boat is still the most convenient way to access all of Southern Nicaragua's best breaks. Take some time during your trip and book a day with Action Tours. "Joey" and the crew will meet you in the morning and load you and up to five more people for a full or half day trip. Going by boat opens up a lot of options, where by land your limited to only a handful of spots. If you pull up to a spot that's too crowded you can simply move on to another one. There are a number of spots around the San Juan area and with a boat you can access all of them.
